ARConnect provides a range of advanced tools for creating immersive AR experiences. The system is designed to enable precise alignment of digital content with real-world environments, making it easy for users to navigate indoor spaces and display relevant information and data using virtual staging, embeddable media and annotations/tags.

At PHORIA, I was keenly focused on the vision of creating an easy to setup, accessible method for aligning digital data to the real world in augmented reality. This vision sat at the core of ARConnect, an Android/iOS product that enables users to setup XR content in their own spaces with minimal technical skills and no additional development.

As technical lead for ARConnect, I oversaw the technical development of a scalable mobile augmented reality solution for real estate, tourism, AEC and education, working with a cross-functional team to bring the technical vision to life. My responsibilities included feature development, user interface integration, troubleshooting, editor tooling (scriptable objects) and build management as well as setting strategic vision for the project.

I was also directly responsible for researching and developing a patented real-world alignment and automated wayfinding method for indoor spaces. Since release, I have continued to lead the technical team in general application maintenance and continued feature development.

ARConnect was build in Unity Game Engine and utilised a range of AR technologies including ARCore, ARKit, Google Cloud Anchors, Azure Spatial Anchors, and PTC Vuforia.

Additional Information

Through ARConnect, we have collaborated with clients to achieve their AR Digital Twin objectives and demonstrate the value of scalable AR toolsets. Our virtual staging, tags, and IoT tools have enabled the City of Melbourne and Quantum Victoria to deliver engaging educational experiences to students and the public.
